To the Member Addressed:

Happy New Year!  The holiday season is over and we are now into a new year which we hope will be healthy and prosperous for all. We are looking forward to another successful year for the Friendly Sons but, in order to accomplish this, we do need the support and participation of our entire membership. January is significant not only in that it marks the beginning of a new year but also because it is that time of the year when your annual dues are due.  Dues are $25.00 and we are enclosing a preaddressed envelope for your convenience.

William A. Gaughan was elected as our Irishman of the Year for 2008. Our annual dinner in honor of Bill is scheduled for Friday, March 14, 2008 at Puccini’s Restaurant, West Side Avenue and Broadway, Jersey City; tickets for the event are $95.00.  Entertainment for the evening will be provided by the Bantry Boys.  In addition, Michael F. Donnelly will be the recipient of our Annual Appreciation Award.

At our last meeting we elected officers and trustees for the year 2008 as set forth in the left margin of this letter; they will be officially installed at our Annual Dinner.

Our souvenir journal was very successful in recent years and we look forward to producing another journal this year with ads as follows: full page color $200.00, full page black and white $100.00, ½ page $50.00 and, 1/3 page (business card) $25.00.

A general meeting of the Friendly Sons will be held Thursday, January 17, 2008 at the Elks Lodge, 83 Hutton Street, Jersey City, at 7:30 P.M.  The agenda will include plans for our annual dinner.

The 50/50 raffle for this year’s dinner will be limited to 200 tickets at $100. per ticket; further details will be forthcoming in a future mailing.

The enclosed reservation form may be used to pay for dinner tickets, journal ads and, dues. Please use the enclosed envelope.  Better yet; attend our meeting and make your payments in person.  This will make your treasurer, Joe Boyle, jump for joy.

Should you have any questions or need additional information please contact John Boyle at the above number or the undersigned at (201) 656-3996.

Sincerely,

Frank Ashe
