To the Member Addressed:

Happy New Year!  The holiday season is over and we are now in a new year which we hope will be healthy and prosperous for all. We are looking forward to another successful year for the Friendly Sons but, in order to accomplish this, we do need the support and participation of our entire membership. January is significant not only in that it marks the beginning of a new year but also because it is that time of the year when your annual dues are due.  Dues are $25.00 and we are enclosing a preaddressed envelope for your convenience. (If you are a new member who enrolled after September 1, 2008 and paid your dues, you are deemed paid through 2009.)

John Boyle was elected our Irishman of the Year for 2009. Our annual dinner in honor of John is scheduled for Friday, March 6, 2009 at Puccini’s Restaurant, West Side Avenue and Broadway, Jersey City; tickets for the event are $95.00.  Entertainment for the evening will be provided by the Eamon Ryan Band.  At our last meeting we elected officers and trustees for the year 2009 as set forth in the left margin of this letter; they will be officially installed at our Annual Dinner.

Our souvenir journal was very successful in recent years and we look forward to producing another journal this year with ads as follows: full page color $200.00, full page black and white $100.00, ½ page $50.00 and, 1/3 page (business card) $25.00.

A meeting of the Friendly Sons will be held Thursday, January, 15, 2009 at Markers Harborside Grille, 153 Plaza 2, Harborside Financial Center, Jersey City, NJ at 7:30 P.M. Validated parking is available at Uno’s, Washington Boulevard and Christopher Columbus Drive. The agenda will include plans for our annual dinner. Complimentary fare will include food plus a cash bar.

The 50/50 raffle for this year’s dinner will be limited to 200 tickets at $100. per ticket; further details will be forthcoming in a future mailing.

The enclosed reservation form may be used to pay for dinner tickets, journal ads and, dues. Please use the enclosed envelope.  Better yet; attend our meeting and make your payments in person; this will make your treasurer, Joe Boyle, jump for joy.

The Friendly Sons will sponsor another fundraiser for The Famine Monument on January 24, 2009. Additional details as to cost and location will be set forth in a separate mailing.

Should you have any questions or need additional information please contact Joe Boyle at the above number, Dan Hazelett at (201) 240-6651 or, the undersigned at (201) 656-3996.

Sincerely,

Frank Ashe
